Change the way we have conversations about healthcare

What Matters to You (WMTY) is a simple, but revolutionary, concept designed to change the way we have conversations about healthcare. Instead of asking patients and families “What’s the matter with you?,” change the conversation and ask “What matters to you?”.

This simple shift in the way providers interact with patients and in the way employees and staff experience work/life balance and joy at work is all in the way that we ask questions and take action. Building relationships through meaningful conversation begins a shift towards value-based conversation and away from strictly clinical interactions. A door opens to an unprecedented level of insight into the care and underlying barriers, causes, and effects of illness and injury.

From elective joint replacement to palliative care, oncology or primary care, the values that underlie someone’s illness or injury can have drastic effects on their plan of care,  goals for treatment, and impression of their experience.

Asking staff what matters provides a connection to work and creates a safe, positive and meaningful workplace and environment. Conversations like this can increase joy at work and give staff the tools to become happy, healthy and productive employees.

Help us shift the conversation and drive more meaningful, thoughtful and transformative conversations in healthcare for patients and staff. Fill out the survey below and join in!
